  • Miami Shores: A Treasure Trove of Hidden Gems

On the surface, Miami Shores looks like a sleepy neighborhood just south of North Miami. If you’re thinking of visiting for the day, or applying to the Catholic college Barry University, you’ll find an abundance of hidden gems. The Art Deco and Mediterranean Revival-style buildings alone, most built in the 1920s, will be well worth your trip to this ‘village beautiful’.

    The Miami Shores Country Club:

Golfers here can enjoy an eighteen-hole championship course with great views, plus tournaments, a driving range and a pro shop. Visitors also have the option of working on their tennis game thanks to their nine courts, along with a separate pro shop and special events. Their extra-long bar faces a wall of windows that overlook the golf course. If you’re just looking for a good meal, the Country Club restaurant features a can’t-miss Sunday brunch.

This multipurpose center has quickly turned into the leisure hub of Brickell. It has accelerated development in this commercial area. Today, a lot of high-rise luxury buildings are coming up to accommodate young professionals looking to stay close to work and let loose after-work.

    Miami Theater Center:

You can support the local arts scene by purchasing a ticket to the Miami Theater Center. This Miami Shores tradition puts on superior, creative, original live productions. The company welcomes all ages and invites all artists to put forth their best performance. The MTC Theater Club for Kids and Teens is a ten-week session that teaches young ones audition techniques and theater games. If you’re in the mood for a movie, the iconic O Cinema holds screenings for classic films.

    Other Standouts:

Miami Shores is full of unexpected treasures. Cyclists should make the trek for Bike Nerds, a friendly and knowledgeable shop with affordable prices. Treat yourself to a new haircut at Salon Dahlia then add on a manicure or a facial. Wondering where are the best places for a meal? If you’re on the go, pick up a sandwich from Proper Sausages. And, for a more traditional sit-down dinner there’s the popular Cote Gourmet, a French bistro with sweet and savory crepes.
