  • Miami’s Upper Eastside – Something for Everyone

    When looking for a break from the glamour of Miami Beach, tourists and natives alike venture north to Miami’s Upper Eastside. In its former life, this suburb also known as Northeast Miami was a rundown stretch of old motels. Now, after a renovation movement that began in the 2000s, visitors will discover hidden gems between NE 37th Street and NE 87th Street.

    MiMo: Where Suburbia Meets Style:

    Cruise on up to the Miami Modern district, which occupies the area from NE 50th to NE 77th. The Upper Eastside’s residential neighborhood feel gives way to unique shops and enticing restaurants. Drive past a treasure trove of 1950’s modern-style architecture mixed in with 1920’s Mediterranean Revival and traditional Miami Art Deco. Stop by Cafe Roval or Barmeli 69 for delicious food and welcoming atmospheres. Miami Ironside has it all – fantastic art, an enchanting garden and restaurants to try. Shoppers on a budget will love MiMo for its bargains, such as those found in famous thrift store Fly Boutique.

    Wake Up Your Spirit in Morningside Historic District:

    The serenity that stretches from NE 50th Terrace to NE 62nd Street (within MiMo) can be a private weekend escape. Take a peaceful drive through streets filled with gorgeous single-family homes, mainly consisting of Mediterranean Revival architecture Spend the day in Morningside Park, where you can paddleboard, kayak and take a tennis lesson. Stop by the Lizarran Lounge for dinner and, on some nights, live entertainment. Last but not least, don’t miss a slice of amazing pizza from Andiamo’s!

    Other Can’t-Miss Day Trips:

    Much of the Upper Eastside consists of gated communities with historic homes, like Bay Point and Belle Meade. Action mainly happens in and around MiMo, but it’s more than enough to keep visitors coming back. Enjoy Painting with a Twist, where art newbies can bring their own alcoholic beverages. Stroll through Legion Memorial Park and take in beautiful ocean view. From 9:00 to 2:00 on Saturdays, you can browse the park’s Upper Eastside Farmers Market for all things fresh and organic.
